Here are the specs of my borthers truck when he bought it in late 2003:
- 1996 GMC Sierra
- Black
- 5.0 Vortec Engine
- 4l60e Transmission
- Grey Leather Interior
The truck was bone stock when he bought it except for some universal 15x8 wheels. First thing on the list was a 4/6 drop from DJM.
- DJM 4/6 Drop
- (F) 2" Drop LCA's
- (F) 2" Drop Coils
- (F) BellTech Front Sway Bar
- (R) 6" Rear Flip Kit
- (R) BellTech Rear Sway Bar
The exterior is in fairly rough shape but we've done a few things to clean it up a little. With a paint job in the future we'll likely just leave the shaving and pan in primer until it goes into the booth for new paint.
- Trenz 30 Bar Billet Grill
- Shaved Antenna
- Shaved Stake Pockets
- Shaved Door Handles (Custom Classic "Complete Kit")
- Shaved Tailgate
- Molded Precision Rodware LED 3rd Brake Light
- Molded Rollpan
- Smoothie Colormatched Front Bumper
- Refelxxions Steel Cowl Hood
The stock 16" steel wheels my truck came with suck. They needed to be tossed for something much better looking and for this I originally chose a set of 16" Alcoa wheels. Those wheels were great. They made such a huge difference when it came to looks the truck looked completely different. I kept these wheel until the decision was made to go to a full air system and I decided I needed bigger wheels. My only option here was to get a custom made set of 19" rollers and that also included a very hefty price tag for tires. Here is a list of my setup.
This GMC had the base interior. Very bland and very boring.
- GM 99/00 Cadillac Escalade Gauge Cluster
- GM 99/00 Cadillac Escalade Interior Chrome Door Handles
- Nissan 300zx Black Leather Bucket Seats (Click Here for install pics!)
- Custom Seat Brackets by WhosNextRacing.com
The truck came stock with a 5.0l 305 drivetrain. The truck now has a Kim Barr 355 Chevy Vortec Engine with these specs:
- 1997 Vortec 350, .030 overbore (355 ci)
- Polished Crank
- Speed Pro Forged Pistons and Connecting Rods
- Completely Balanced Rotating Assembly
- Stock Vortec Heads Rebuilt w/ Mild Port & Polish
- Milled for Heavy Duty Valvesprings
- Comp Cams Compucam - 212/218 488/495 112* lsa
- Miloden Oil Pump
- Cloyes Double Roller Timing Chain
- Stock Intake w/ Stock Fuel Injection
- Intake Elbow w/ Computer Matched Granatelli MAF
- Stock Ignition Components
- Helix TB Spacer
- SPE Custom Tuned PCM
The rest of the drivetain and performance goodies are:
- Dual Exit Flowmaster Muffler Dumped
- Nitrous Express NOS system
Even though Whipple doesn't recommend or say any ignition upgrades are necessary I chose to upgrade my ignition system just a little to accommodate the extra fuel and air the engine is using. I plan to add an ignition box soon and an MSD coil upgrade.
